Pipeline Projects

Justin designs water and wastewater main replacements for Dallas Water Utilities and the City of Duncanville, often specifying trenchless methods such as pipe boring, pipe bursting, and cured-in-place pipe to limit impacts on residents.

2018 Pipeline Design

Dallas Water Utilities, Dallas, TX · Project Engineer

Justin designed 2 pipeline segments using both open-cut and trenchless methods: 3,560 LF of 8-in water and approximately 4,230 LF of 8-in wastewater pipe replacement. The segments ran through residential and commercial areas and major arterials.

Greenbriar Estates Water/Wastewater Improvements

City of Duncanville, TX · Civil Design Lead

Justin developed construction documents for 4 project segments: 10,600 LF of 8-in PVC water pipeline and 8,500 LF of 8-, 15-, and 18-in wastewater pipeline. He specified trenchless methods for the wastewater lines to minimize impacts to residents and reduce pavement replacement.

Kessler Park Water Main Replacements

Dallas Water Utilities, Dallas, TX · Project Engineer

Justin developed construction plans for approximately 380 LF of 8-in water line in a congested alley easement with historical features that could not be disturbed. Field reconnaissance confirmed no water services were connected to the segment, so he specified trenchless pipe boring, keeping construction within the easement and minimizing surface impacts to the residential area.

Water and Wastewater Main Replacements (Contract No. 16-351/352E)

Dallas Water Utilities, Dallas, TX · Project Engineer

Justin prepared plans and estimates for 4,450 LF of 4- and 8-in water line and 1,950 LF of 8-in wastewater line. For 400 LF in a congested, heavily landscaped residential easement, he specified pipe boring to limit impacts on customers and landscaping.

Major Vault and Valve Replacement

Dallas Water Utilities, Dallas, TX · Project Engineer

Justin developed plans for a new chlorine dosing venturi meter vault serving the Cypress Waters development, with provisions for future meter upsizing without major reconfiguration. Existing vault appurtenances were modified to fill the site’s ground storage tank more efficiently; the site was 1 of 3 in the contract.

Munger Place Water Main Replacements (Contract No. 14-115/166E)

Dallas Water Utilities, Dallas, TX · Project Engineer

Justin prepared plans and cost estimates for 16,500 LF of 16- and 18-in water line and 5,000 LF of 8- to 18-in wastewater line, plus 825 LF of 8-in to 16-in water line upsizing on Columbia Avenue. Trenchless (BOTOC) methods included slip-lining with fusible PVC, pipe bursting for approximately 1,330 LF, and cured-in-place pipe for approximately 1,400 LF.
