Justin has designed roadway reconstruction, widening, alley paving, ADA, and intersection improvements for the Cities of Dallas, Duncanville, Irving, Richardson, McKinney, and Frisco, DFW Airport, and TxDOT. His paving work ranges from interstate ramps to neighborhood alleys.
12th–Jefferson Connector
City of Dallas, TX · Civil Design Lead
Justin developed plans to remove an existing 6-lane connector roadway through the neighborhood, with 700 LF of street pavement, 600 LF of alley pavement, sidewalks, drainage, water and wastewater, and site grading. The project restored intersecting streets and alleys and created 4 park areas in the reclaimed space. He calculated quantities, prepared cost estimates, and coordinated submittals with the City and DWU.
Merit Drive Phase 2 (Clodus Fields to IH 635)
City of Dallas, TX · Design Lead
Justin designed the removal and reconstruction of 4,000 LF of 4-lane divided roadway, including paving, drainage, and pedestrian improvements, with DART and TxDOT coordination. To meet budget constraints he set profiles so existing drainage could be reused with only inlet lid and throat adjustments, and aligned curbs and sidewalks to save as many existing trees as possible.
Duncanville Main Street Corridor Study
Dallas County, Duncanville, TX · Civil Design Lead
Justin developed schematic layouts for approximately 1 mile of Main Street from IH 20 to Nance Street, including alternatives for the Camp Wisdom Road intersection. The schematic included bike lanes, traffic calming, a roundabout at Center Street, and a lane diet to reduce maintenance costs and improve walkability, supporting downtown revitalization and connectivity to a future rail station.
Forest Hills ADA Improvements
City of Duncanville, TX · Civil Design Lead
Justin developed layouts for 4 pedestrian facility upgrades in the Forest Hills neighborhood, including a site next to Pace Alternative School. He produced the plan sheets and specification book and coordinated with Dallas County to satisfy CDBG funding requirements.
Alley Reconstruction Group 17-403
City of Dallas, TX · Civil Design Lead & Engineer-of-Record
Justin was Engineer-of-Record for 2,100 LF of 8-in and 650 LF of 16-in water main and 3,625 LF of 8-in wastewater main across 6 alleys. He specified items, calculated quantities, and coordinated with the prime’s paving design to meet cover requirements and construction phasing.
Madrid Alley
City of Duncanville, TX · Civil Design Lead
Justin led the design of 1,425 LF of alley paving, sidewalk, barrier-free ramp, and drainage improvements and managed production by IEA designers. The project was delivered within budget: against a $360,500 engineer’s estimate, the City received 12 bids averaging $428,012, with the lowest responsible bid at $331,415.
Drayton Drive Stabilization and Repairs
City of Irving, TX · Civil Design Lead
Justin designed pavement repairs including cul-de-sac reprofiling to correct flow to the inlet, sidewalk replacement, slope protection, and reconstruction of a soil-nail wall and handrail. He also designed grading and drainage improvements for an existing Y-inlet in the adjacent ONCOR easement.
Esters Boulevard Rehabilitation
DFW Airport, Irving, TX · Project Manager
Justin designed the pavement section for 750 LF of 4-lane divided jointed reinforced concrete pavement with monolithic curb between Grapevine Creek and NW 28th Avenue. The design included an on-site pavement monitoring system to track performance in high-sulfate soils and inform future reconstruction in the corridor.
Old Campbell Road (Nantucket to Campbell Road)
City of Richardson, TX · Project Engineer
Justin designed and produced contract documents for approximately 800 LF of roadway, converting a 2-lane road with side ditches to a curb-and-gutter section with underground drainage. Water main and pedestrian upgrades were also included.
Railroad Crossing Improvements
City of Richardson, TX · Civil Design Lead
Justin designed paving and sidewalk improvements at 2 railroad crossings on a 6-lane divided thoroughfare: an abandoned DART-owned track and an active KCS line. He worked with both railroad owners to correct grade breaks and sidewalk gaps, including milling and replacing asphalt approaches at the Campbell Road location.
IH 35W Segment 3B
TxDOT Fort Worth District, Fort Worth, TX · Engineering Analyst
Justin designed ramp profiles, gore grading, small sign layouts, and large guide signs for approximately 3.58 miles of interstate between IH 820 and US 287. The reconstruction added managed lanes, direct connectors, ramps, frontage roads, and cross-street bridges.
FM 1220 Widening
TxDOT Fort Worth District, Tarrant County, TX · Engineering Analyst
Justin prepared design plans, cross sections, details, specifications, cost estimates, and the construction schedule for shoulder widening and culvert extensions on a 2-lane highway with rolling terrain and constrained ROW.
Johnson County Intersection Improvements
TxDOT Fort Worth District, Johnson County, TX · Engineering Analyst
Justin prepared design plans, cross sections, details, specifications, cost estimates, and the construction schedule for right and left turn lanes at 4 intersections.
Alma Road / Silverado Trail Roadway and Intersection Improvements
City of McKinney, TX · Engineering Analyst
Justin designed traffic control, intersection grading, signing and pavement markings, and removal plans for approximately 5,200 LF of Alma Road widening from 2-lane undivided to 4-lane divided, plus approximately 1,000 LF along Silverado Trail.
Custer Road Lanes 5 and 6
Cities of Frisco and McKinney, TX · Engineering Analyst
Justin designed interior travel lanes 5 and 6 on Custer Road from SH 121 to South Stonebridge Drive. The plans covered approximately 3.0 miles of paving layouts, traffic control, drainage modifications, signing and pavement markings, and removals.
